Demand for Sea of Thieves on PS5 skyrocketed pretty much as soon as it became available to pre-order on the platform, and only went on to increase from then on, so it’s no surprise that the game’s sales are reflecting that in the aftermath of its PlayStation release.
That’s as per Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, who recently revealed on Twitter that Sea of Thieves was the second-best selling game in the United States for the week ending April 27, jumping up from its No. 36 position the preceding week. Though Sea of Thieves launched globally for PS5 on April 30, those who purchased the Premium Edition got access to it on April 25- which bodes well for how the game will have performed upon its full PS5 release.
In our review of the game’s PS5 version, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Sea of Thieves has grown into one of the more beloved live service titles over the years and it’s well-deserved, offering a gorgeous and engaging pirate fantasy.” Read the full review through here.
Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PC. Last month, developer Rare announced that the game had crossed 40 million lifetime players.
Sea of Thieves is having a great start on PlayStation 5 in the US market. The game finished at #2 in Circana’s weekly best-sellers tracking during w/e Apr 27th, up from #36 the previous week. Sea of Thieves officially launched on Apr 30th but had early access start Apr 25th.
