When it launched this past March, Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin was understandably overshadowed by the likes of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Critical reception was also somewhat mixed (check out our review), though some appreciated the combat.
Nevertheless, the PS5 exclusive has done pretty well in sales. Koei Tecmo revealed in its fiscal year report that its sales surpassed the Nioh series. While specific numbers weren’t provided, director/producer Fumihiko Yasuda revealed to Denfaminico Gamer (translation via DeepL), “Rise of the Ronin is currently the best-selling Koei Tecmo title so far.”
Based on Famitsu’s estimated physical software sales for the week ending June 2nd, it’s sold 125,982 copies in Japan since launch. Of course, worldwide sales figures have yet to be announced. As always, stay tuned for more concrete details.
Rise of the Ronin is available exclusively for PS5. A recent update added new Ally missions on Midnight difficulty alongside Eternal Night, the most challenging mission yet. There are also two new set bonuses, new opponents to train against in the Dojo and much more. Head here for more details.
