Rangers and Celtic are set to battle it out for the signature of Dundee defender Luke Graham, with the 49ers group now pushing hard to ensure they win the race.
Gers battling for Graham’s signature as title race heats up
The Scottish Premiership title race looks like it could go right down to the wire, with just three points separating third-place Celtic and league leaders Hearts heading into the final six games of the campaign.
However, the Hoops haven’t been at their best, slipping up away at Dundee United prior to the international break, and Hearts are also going through a patchy spell, collecting four points from their last three matches.
Danny Rohl’s side, on the other hand, are hitting their stride at exactly the right stage of the season, winning their last three games on the spin to close the gap to the Jam Tarts to just one point.
With Celtic protesting against their board, Rangers will be hoping it is time for another power shift in Glasgow, having only won one of the last 14 league titles, and they are also looking to get one over their Old Firm rivals in the transfer market.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the 49ers are now pushing hard to sign Dundee defender Graham, who is very keen on a move to Ibrox, despite interest from Celtic and some unnamed English clubs, which should give them the edge in the race for his signature.
Having only missed one Scottish Premiership game for Dundee this season, the 22-year-old has been involved with Scotland U21s, and he received plaudits from coach Scot Gemmill, who said: “Luke is fantastic. He’s obviously playing at Premiership level now. He’s doing great. He was excellent in Czech Republic.
“A really top performance and that was a very high level game. “For me, that was a real hurdle for him to show that he can play at that level. He’s been really positive.”
The centre-back is averaging 10.6 defensive contributions per 90 in the Scottish Premiership this season, which is more than any other Dundee player, and he could be a solid summer addition for Rangers, but before then, there are some tough fixtures on the horizon.

Rohl should be feeling a lot more confident about his side’s title chances, having closed the gap to just one point, but if the Gers are going to win the league, they will have to do it the hard way, with trips to Hearts and Celtic still to come.
Motherwell at home is up first, and that will by no means be a walkover either, with the Light Blues only winning one of their previous three games against Jens Berthel Askou’s side this season.
