Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 plot
The Disney show is an adaptation of a series of young adult novels by Rick Riordan. Season 1 was based on the first volume, titled The Lightning Thief. Season 2 will be based on the second book, The Sea of Monsters.
After the events in the previous novel, Percy has had a peaceful year at Meriwether College Prep. But things are starting to change. Not only does he clash with man-eating giants on the last day of school, but Annabeth returns to Camp Half-Blood with alarming news. It soon becomes apparent that the magical barrier protecting the camp from the rest of the world has been destroyed. Half-gods and other beings begin to face real danger from a mysterious enemy.
In the second season, Percy will also set off to find Grover, who disappeared during his own mission.
The official description for the series states:
Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.
The Percy Jackson book series consists of six volumes:
- The Lightning Thief
- The Sea of Monsters
- The Titan’s Curse
- The Battle of the Labyrinth
- The Last Olympian
It means there’s enough material for several seasons, providing Disney renews the show after the second installment airs.

Daniel Diemer (Under the Bridge) has joined the cast as Tyson, a Cyclops. The one-eyed boy is Percy’s half-brother, a son of Poseidon and a nymph. After living on New York’s streets for several years, he is taken in by Meriwether College Prep, where he meets Percy.
In season 2, we will also see the Gray Sisters – Tempest, Anger and Wasp – ancient, mysterious women who share among them one eye and one tooth. They also somehow run a cab company that serves the extraordinary inhabitants of Percy Jackson’s universe.
Kristen Schaal (What We Do in the Shadows) will star as Tempest, Sandra Bernhard (American Horror Story: NYC) will portray Anger, and Margaret Cho (The Flight Attendant) will play Wasp.
Recent additions to the cast include also Timothy Simons (Veep) as Tantalus. According to the show’s creators:
[He is] sardonic, manipulative, openly hostile, and rarely in a good mood… seeing as he is cursed with eternal hunger and thirst, but can never eat or drink. Tantalus has been released from imprisonment in the Underworld to become the interim Activities Director at Camp Half-Blood, having replaced Chiron (Glynn Turman) who is under suspicion of having ties to Kronos.

Will there be Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3?
Yes – Disney announced that the production of the third season will kick off soon. Currently, there’s no premiere date set for the show’s next instalment, but we do know who will join the cast.
In season 3, Kate McKinnon will portray Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. The comedian and actress is best known for her appearances on Saturday Night Live, as well as her performances in Ghostbusters and Barbie.
What’s interesting is that in the Percy Jackson books, Aphrodite is a shape-shifting goddess – she changes her appearance based on what a person thinks is beautiful. For now, it’s unclear if this unusual feature will be kept in the show – it’s unknown if other actresses have been cast as Aphrodite.
Dafne Keen, known from His Dark Materials and Logan, has been cast as Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon and the hunt. The official description reads (via The Hollywood Reporter):
Artemis prefers the freedom of the outdoors to the politics and formality of Olympus. Her immortal hunters are her constant companions, and she has little contact with mortals, making her a bit out of touch with modern human culture. She is regal and an honorable fighter who will stand up to grave challenges.
Saara Chaudry, the voice actress from The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Breadwinner, will portray Zoë Nightshade, an immortal hunter and Artemis’ lieutenant. According to the official description (via The Hollywood Reporter):
[Zoë] has been at Artemis’ side for more than 2,000 years. She is a strong warrior and sometimes overly serious in ways that amuse the demigods, but she is also a crucial quest member, willing to strive and sacrifice for the good of all.
Olive Abercrombie will star as demigod Bianca di Angelo, while Levi Chrisopulos will portray her younger brother, demigod Nico di Angelo.
