Samsung smartphones and tablets are by far the most popular devices when it comes to Android.

Not only is the current Galaxy S25 series extremely popular, but cheaper models are also very common. It also dominates the foldables market with its Galaxy Z line.

With that in mind, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see Samsung be one of the first companies to adopt a new version of Android.

With Android 16 available on recent Google Pixel devices, it shouldn’t be long before One UI 8 is rolled out to all compatible Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets.

However, Samsung will be keen to avoid the much-delayed rollout of One UI 7, which is still not complete at the time of writing.

There are two ways to find out which Samsung devices will receive the update to One UI 8. Firstly, based on the update promise made by the manufacturer at market launch. According to EU law, this must now be at least 5 years (but can be longer for some devices), and it’s likely to be the same in the UK and US.

There are also a number of devices that have already been allowed to participate in the beta of One UI 8 and are therefore certain to receive the update to the live version. The rollout for the S25 series started on 15 September in South Korea, but it may take a little longer for older models.

However, these are the devices that we’re expecting to receive the update:

  • Galaxy S25 FE
  • Galaxy S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S25 / S25+ / S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra
