Sega has officially confirmed that the long-dormant Virtua Fighter franchise is finally set to make its comeback with a new instalment being developed by Like a Dragon developer Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, and though further details on the project are currently scarce, the publisher has offered an unusual new look at it regardless.
Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku have released what they’ve dubbed a “pre-development concept video” that showcases in-engine footage. It is not, however, actual gameplay footage, which means it’s meant to be reflective of what the developer is targeting for the final product itself. The brief video showcases half a minute of footage of series staple Akira Yuki taking on a double of himself against the backdrop of a dense city environment. You can view the footage below.
There’s currently no word on what platforms the next Virtua Fighter game is targeting, when it will release, or even what its final name will be- but clearly, it’s going to be a while before it’s time for Sega to reveal more concrete details on the title. Stay tuned for continued updates.
