WhatsApp gets a glow-up: Chat themes now rolling out for everyone!

You asked, they listened! WhatsApp is finally letting users spice up their chats with brand-new chat themes, giving conversations a splash of colour and personality.
The messaging giant dropped the news recently, confirming that both iOS and Android users will now be able to jazz up their chat bubbles and backgrounds with an array of vibrant themes.
A fresh coat of paint for your WhatsApps!
Previously, users could tweak their wallpaper, but this update takes personalisation to a whole new level. Fancy changing those boring green bubbles? Now you can! There are plenty of colour options to choose from, along with a set of pre-made themes that adjust both your background and chat bubbles in one go.
If you’re feeling extra creative, you can mix and match, customising your bubbles and wallpaper separately. Want a sleek dark mode with neon-blue bubbles? Or a cosy pastel theme with soft hues? It’s all up to you!
30 new wallpapers & full control
Not only do you get custom chat bubbles, but WhatsApp has also thrown in 30 new wallpaper options, or you can be a rebel and upload your own from your photo library.
Even better, you can apply a theme to all your chats or set a different one for each conversation – perfect for keeping your friends’ chaotic messages separate from your mum or dad’s daily check-ins! But don’t worry, themes are for your eyes only – no one else can see them.
How to get in on the action
If you’re itching to give your WhatsApp a glow-up, just head to Settings > Chats > Default Chat Theme and get customising.
The feature is rolling out now and will land on devices worldwide over the next few weeks. Just make sure your app is up to date, and you’ll soon be able to give your chats a fresh new look.
