Moto G86 Power, G86, and G56 Budget Phones Announced

Motorola has confirmed the launch of its new budget smartphone range, made up of the Moto G86 Power 5G, the Moto G86 5G, and the Moto G56 5G. The former, in particular, looks to be a stamina champ.

Earlier this week we reported on a trio of leaks concerning forthcoming Motorola G-series phones.

Now two of those three phones have materialised through an official announcement (there’s no sign of the Moto G96), alongside a new range-topping option.

Moto G86 Power 5G

Leading the charge is the Moto G86 Power 5G, which gets its name from an unusually capacious 6,720mAh battery. 30W TurboPower wired charging might not be particularly swift, but it should last a good few days of usage, and then some.

There’s a 6.67-inch Super HD pOLED display around front, with the same 4500 nits peak brightness that we saw recently in the Motorola Edge 60 series.

Another spec that the Moto G86 Power 5G shares with its mid-range brothers is MIL-STD-810H and IP68/IP69 certification. This thing’s built to last.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7300 is another familiar component.

Motorola has equipped the Moto G86 Power 5G with a 50MP Sony Lytia 600 main camera, together with an 8MP ultra-wide and a 32MP selfie camera.

The regular Moto G86 5G supplies a 6.7-inch Super HD pOLED screen with the same impressive 4500 nits peak brightness.

It lacks the Power’s huge battery, but 5,200mAh still isn’t anything to be sniffed at. 30W TurboPower charging seems to be more appropriately applied here, too.

Otherwise, you have the same MIL-STD-810H and IP68/IP69 certification, the same MediaTek Dimensity 7300 power, and what appears to be the same camera set-up as the Moto G86 Power 5G.

Finally we have the Motorola Moto G56 5G, which shares a 5,200mAh battery, as well as MIL-STD-810H and IP68/IP69 certification, with the Moto G86.

It also has the same camera system as its pricier brothers.

However, it’s fronted by a slightly different display in the shape of a 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS LCD, so you don’t get those vibrant pOLED colours.

You also get a less capable MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor at its core.

There’ll also be a Business Edition of the Moto G56 with advanced security, device management and support services.

The Moto G86 Power 5G (£299.99), Moto G86 5G (£280), and Moto G56 5G (£199.99) will be available to buy soon from Motorola and other major retailers.
