The partnership will enable Jabil to add Hanley Energy’s expertise to its own power management solutions for data centres.
Jabil, a Florida-headquartered engineering, supply chain and manufacturing solutions provider, has announced plans to acquire Meath-based critical power and energy management solutions platform Hanley Energy Group, in a deal valued at roughly $725m.
In a statement, Jabil stated it had signed a definite agreement to acquire Hanley Energy, in order to add Hanley’s “extensive expertise in power systems and energy optimisation to Jabil’s existing power management solutions for data centres, including low- and medium-voltage switch gear, PDUs and UPS systems”.
The deal is valued at $725m, “plus contingent consideration up to $58m, subject to achieving future revenue thresholds, in an all-cash transaction”, and is expected to be finalised in the first quarter of 2026 pending customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
In 2024, Hanley Energy announced plans to hire in both the US and Ireland, amid the opening of a new $12m office in ‘Data Centre Alley’ in Virginia. The move was part of strategy to expand the company’s global operations.
Commenting on the announcement, Ed Bailey, the CTO and senior vice-president of intelligent infrastructure at Jabil, said: “Hanley Energy Group has established itself as a global innovator in critical power and energy management, with exceptional engineering talent across Ireland and North America.
“Its expertise in designing, building and commissioning turnkey mission-critical power solutions from the grid all the way to the hyperscale data centre complements Jabil’s growing capabilities in AI data centre infrastructure.
“With Hanley’s deep technical know-how and comprehensive life cycle services, including design, consulting, deployment, commissioning, and field support services, we will be even better positioned to deliver secure, reliable and energy-efficient power solutions to our global customers.”
Matt Crowley, Jabil’s executive vice-president for global business units and intelligent infrastructure added: “This acquisition fits perfectly with Jabil’s strategy to grow in the data centre space, where we’re focused on creating capabilities to deliver custom solutions for hyperscale, co-location and digital native customers.
“It now gives us the uniquely differentiated capability to not only design and manufacture these solutions, but also to deploy and service them in the data centre.”
