While it’s been a little while since our last Marvel film or series, Phase Five of the universe will soon get some exciting new additions. This is the second instalment in what Marvel has dubbed the ‘Multiverse Saga’.
With highly anticipated follow-up films like Deadpool & Wolverine and the return of Netflix favourite Daredevil, Phase Five has a lot to offer in the superhero world. If you want to see how the order of films and shows are shaping up, keep on reading.

Marvel Phase Five order
You’d be forgiven for being confused about which series and movies are still included in Phase Five of the MCU, as many things have been shifted and delayed.
Here’s a quick summary of what has been released so far (the movies are set in bold):
- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
- Guardians of the Galaxy 3
- Secret Invasion
- Loki season 2
- The Marvels
- What If…? season 2 (2023)
- Echo
And here’s what’s to come:
- Deadpool & Wolverine (26 July 2024)
- Agatha All Along (18 September 2024)
- Captain America: Brave New World (14 February 2025)
- Daredevil: Born Again (March 2025)
- Ironheart (2025, date TBC)
Daredevil: Born Again was originally set to release in spring of this year. However, the show underwent a massive creative overhaul – with some writers being dropped by Disney. Therefore, it’s now delayed.
Thunderbolts and Blade were originally in this line-up, but now fall into the Phase 6 category – more on that below.
What films and series are left in MCU Phase 5?
If you want to know more about the upcoming releases, then we’ve got some quick summaries for you. This year, only one Marvel movie is on the schedule, and no other Disney+ series have been confirmed… yet.
Deadpool & Wolverine
Cinema release date: 26 July 2024
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Matthew MacFadyen
The third Deadpool film will merge with the MCU, and that isn’t the only multiversal crossover happening. Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine from the X-Men franchise. This will all happen thanks to the help of the TVA, an organisation that looks after all the different branches of time.
Agatha All Along
Disney+ release date: 18 September 2024
Starring: Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, David Lengel
The character in the MCU with the best theme song ever is getting her own series. Agatha Harkness was first introduced in WandaVision, and has a rich history to explore as a witch – something that will no doubt be detailed in this new original.
The series had multiple name changes before finally being confirmed as ‘Agatha All Along’. The first trailer shows the witch breaking free from Wanda’s spell, but her freedom comes at a price.
Captain America: Brave New World
Cinema release date: 14 February 2025
Starring: Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford
Captain America will get a fourth instalment, with Anthony Mackie taking up the shield once again after his outing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The subtitle was changed from New World Order to Brave New World on 6 June 2023.
The former was quite interesting, as this organisation is led by none other than the Red Skull in the comics. Could we see the return of another iconic villain?
Daredevil: Born Again
Disney+ release date: Spring 2025
Starring: Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio
The Netflix Marvel series Daredevil is getting a reboot, with Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin back in the roles of hero and villain respectively. In the comics, the Born Again arc is one of the lowest parts of Matt’s life, where Fisk finds out his true identity and exploits it massively.
Ironheart
Disney+ release date: TBA
Starring: Dominique Thorne
Ironheart follows Riri Williams, a genius young inventor who creates her own suits of armour, just like those worn in the Iron Man movies. We already met Riri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so this series may give us more of an idea on how she creates her tech, and how her new contacts in Wakanda help her on her superhero journey with Tony Stark out of the picture.
Like several other 2023 Disney+ Marvel series, it has been delayed indefinitely.
Which MCU Phase Five films and TV series have already released?
If you’re catching up on previous Marvel films and shows, then here’s what you need to know. These are all chronologically ordered by their release dates:
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Starring: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors
The third Ant-Man film once again follows Scott Lang, who is adjusting to his life post-Thanos and building a relationship with his daughter, Cassie. However, he and his family are in way over their heads when they get dragged into the Quantum Realm and come face-to-face with Kang the Conqueror.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Starring: Christ Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chukwudi Iwuji
James Gunn is back in the Marvel fold for his third Guardians movie, long delayed thanks to Disney firing and then re-hiring him. Vol. 3 follows on directly from the Guardians Holiday Special and will be the final outing for the gang as they face off against High Evolutionary.
Secret Invasion
Starring: Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke
Nick Fury is back, and is joined by Ben Mendelsohn’s Skrull Talos from Captain Marvel. This Disney+ series explores one of the comics’ iconic arcs: the Skrull secret invasion of Earth, when shapeshifters surreptitiously replaced countless political figures across the planet in a bid to take it over.
Loki season 2
Starring: Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Ke Huy Quan, Gugu Mbatha-Raw
Loki was the first Disney+ series to get a confirmed second season. The Trickster god returns to the TVA, where the timelines are thrown upside down after Sylvie killed He Who Remains – unleashing Kang upon the multiverse.
The Marvels
Starring: Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Zawe Ashton
Captain Marvel’s second outing is directed by Nia DaCosta – the creator behind the 2021 Candyman reboot. Brie Larson is back in the lead role, but she’s joined by the new Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau following on from her appearance in WandaVision. The film follows the trio as they keep swapping places. They must team up to find out the reason why.
What If…? season 2
Starring: Jeffrey Wright
The animated series What If…? is back for a second season, with more alternative storylines from characters across the Marvel universe as told by The Watcher. This series has stories about Steve Rogers working for the enemy, Iron Man and Gamora teaming up and more.
Echo
Starring: Alaqua Cox, Devery Jacobs, Zahn McClarnon, Vincent D’Onofrio
Echo is a character that was introduced in Hawkeye, and is the first Native American hero in the MCU and one of the few deaf characters in the franchise. Maya struggles to find her own path after separating her relationship with her so-called ‘uncle’, Wilson Fisk.
