The whereabouts of Electronic Arts’ Play showcase are unknown, but the publisher did have some strong reveals this week, like Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It also confirmed that EA Sports’ Madden NFL 25 will launch worldwide on August 16th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Xbox One and PS4. The cover star is Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers.
Senior production director Mike Mahar stated, “Christian McCaffrey is a human highlight reel on NFL Sundays, and our players love his dynamic abilities in Madden, scoring more than 450 million touchdowns with him last year and making him the most popular running back in Madden NFL 24. Christian’s electrifying, dynamic and physical play style perfectly represents the gameplay innovations we’re bringing to Madden NFL 25 and made him the perfect fit for this year’s cover.”
McCaffrey added, “To be on the cover of Madden NFL is a career achievement and an honor I share with all of my teammates, coaches and 49er Faithful who have helped make it possible. I’m pumped to get back on the field this year to give Madden players more reasons to keep scoring touchdowns with me in Madden NFL 25.”
On current-gen platforms, Madden NFL 25 will feature updates in Franchise and other modes, the “next level” of FieldSENSE, new commentary and more. Pre-orders are available now for all editions, with the Standard Edition costing $69.99 and includes a Cover Athlete Elite Player Item and two Strategy Items. PS5 players also get exclusive access to Superstar Drip Gear and a Legendary XP Boost.
The Deluxe Edition costs $99.99 and provides the same items alongside three days of early access to the game and Ultimate Team Challenges. You also get 4600 Madden Items and “more”, which is yet to be detailed. Finally, there’s the MVP Bundle that includes the Deluxe Editions of Madden NFL 25 and College Football 25. Furthermore, EA Play members can play a 10-hour trial before release.
