In his outrageous latest announcement, controversial American incoming president Donald Trump has now claimed he is set to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, amongst other bold orders, which include calling for Canada to become part of the US, and claiming back the Panama Canal.
Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago Florida resort, where he met Italian PM Giorgia Meloni this week, Trump wishes to rename the gulf, which is surrounded by a host of American and Mexican states as well as Cuba, as he feels ‘it’s ours.’
‘Mexico is in trouble’
The American gave a statement, claiming: “Mexico is really in trouble, a lot of trouble. We are going to be changing the name to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring.”
He continued: “That covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of America. What a beautiful name. And it’s appropriate.” let’s hope Trump doesn’t feel that attempting to change the name of a body of water transfers its ownership to any particular nation.
Calls for Canada to join US
Ahead of his inauguration on January 20, trump also preached that Canada should become part of the US, brandishing the low investment levels in defence, from outgoing prime minister Justin Trudeau. “You get rid of that artificially drawn line, and you take a look at what that looks like, and it would be much better for national security.”
Trump feels that the US “protects” Canada. “They are great, but we are spending hundreds of billions here to protect it.” he also imposed massive threats of 25% tariffs upon Mexico and Canada if they do not agree to reduce illegal immigration and drug trafficking. The two nations serve as americas biggest trading partners.
Trump seeks to make Panama Canal American again
Trump wasn’t done there, as he also claimed to aim to return the Panama Canal to American ownership, after Jimmy Carter, the late and former president sold it to the Panamanian government in a 1977 treaty.
“The Panama Canal is a disgrace. What took place at the Panama Canal.. Jimmy Carter gave it to them for a dollar and they were supposed to treat us well. I thought it was a terrible thing to do.”
Trump insisted that us vessels pay to use the canal, disregarding the fact that hundreds of thousands of Americans died constructing it in the early 1900s.
In addition to aiming to make Canada the US’s ‘51st state’, he also wants to claim Greenland as part of ‘national security’ forces for the nation of America to be better equipped as part of future defence strategies to deal with military conflict.
As the world prepares itself for drastic changes ahead of Trump’s official inauguration on January 20, the population can expect some serious backlash as the EU also braces itself for the interesting ride ahead.
