Google usually holds a major launch event in the second half of the year, and that’s no different in 2024.
However, as the company has now confirmed, the next Google launch event is taking place earlier than usual this year. We also have two official teaser videos depicting some of the devices we’re expecting.
However, other new hardware and software announcements are also expected at the Made by Google event. Here’s everything you need to know about it, including how to watch live.
When is the next Google event?
In an official teaser video, Google has confirmed that its next event will take place on 13 August 2024.
Here’s when the event will start, depending on where you are:
- UK: 6:00pm BST
- US West Coast: 10:00am PT
- US East Coast: 1:00pm ET
- Central Europe: 7:00pm CET
If last year’s event is anything to go by, it should last around an hour.

How to watch the Google event live
Google is yet to confirm where the event will be available to watch live.
However, considering the company owns YouTube, it’s almost certain to be broadcast via the Made by Google YouTube channel. We’ll embed the stream here once it’s available.
If previous years are anything to go by, it’ll also be available to watch via the Google Store.
What will Google announce at its next event?
New hardware is usually the main focus of a Google event in the second half of a calendar year, and it looks like the company has a lot planned for 2024.
Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro
Firstly, Google has already confirmed that the Pixel 9 Pro will be launching at the event. Although we haven’t yet received an official announcement regarding the standard Pixel 9, we expect it to appear alongside its Pro variant.
There have been plenty of leaks so far, including promo materials, so we already know almost everything about both of these new phones. However, there are a few things we still don’t know, including price.
Pixel 9 Pro XL
The Pixel 9 Pro XL, which would be a larger variant of the Pixel 9 Pro, has also been rumoured for many months.
While we haven’t received an official announcement at this point, if recently leaked promo materials prove to be true, we might get two Pro models, with the standard at 6.3 inches and XL at 6.8 inches.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Alongside the announcement of the Pixel 9 Pro, Google released a trailer for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the successor to the original Pixel Fold.
Surprisingly, this device will no longer be a separate product, but will belong to the Pixel 9 family. That suggests it’ll have a lot more in common with the regular phones.
You can read everything we know at this point in our summary article on the Pixel 9 series. We’re also running a separate summary article on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Pixel Watch 3
Also expected to be seen is the Pixel Watch 3, the successor to the Pixel Watch 2.
The watch is said to be available in two sizes for the first time: 41mm and 45mm, but looks set to a refinement of last year’s model in most areas.
Pixel Buds Pro 2
Google is also expected to refresh its wireless earbud lineup with a new pair of Pixel Buds.
The original Pixel Buds were released back in July 2022, so it’d make sense to see a new generation at the event. Rumours suggest a slight redesign and some eye-catching new colours.
Android 15
It probably won’t all be hardware, though.
AI is expected to be at the forefront of the Pixel 9 series, and given that’s also central to Android 15 (which Google announced at its IO developer conference in May), it’d make sense for the new operating system to debut here.
However, given the earlier Pixel launch this year, Google may wait until its usual October slot.
