GTA 6 might be worth $100 if it has a twerk button

It’s one of the buzziest questions in the games industry right now: How much will Grand Theft Auto 6 cost at launch? Some analysts have claimed that 2026’s most anticipated sequel will be the tipping point for $99 video games becoming mainstream. Others say Rockstar Games would be better served by charging a more palatable $70, widely considered the default price for AAA releases in recent years. A lot of people seem to care deeply about the answer to this question, given the number of articles written about it. But I am not one of those people. Instead, I am dying to know: Will GTA 6 have a twerk button?

Like a lot of weird internet rumors, I’m not exactly sure where I first heard about this. (I certainly remember that lady gloriously twerking on top of the moving car from the trailer.) And, from what I can gather, GTA 6 will not have a twerk button.

But the possibility has become a topic of conversation largely thanks to a noble shitposting effort by YouTuber Jeffery Phillip. Basically, his goal was to screw with the AI search results Google keeps drop-kicking down all our throats. In his video, Phillips explained why the GTA 6 twerk button is the perfect experimental white lie.

“It’s just in the realm of possibility where the AI will believe it, where people can believe it. But it’s also definitely not true,” he said. “There’s not gonna be a sole button just for twerking.”

Having seen how much weight Google Search gives to Reddit posts, Phillips posted the fictional claim in several subreddits, including one accompanied by a doctored tweet made to look like the Rockstar Games official account.

Throughout this process, it’s pretty clear from context that he’s shitposting, like when he responds to a skeptic asking for sources by saying “Rockstar called me.” To get the word out about the twerk button, Phillips also tweeted and replied to random posts on Quora, noted source of exclusive insider info on the games industry, claiming his favorite game ever was “definitely gonna be” GTA 6 because of the twerk button. He even made a whole damn song that’s just him repeating “GTA 6 has a twerk button.” Basically, he flooded the zone. And it worked a hell of a lot better than it should have.

This experiment shows how flawed and awful Google’s AI search results are, and how one person can skew the results with shockingly little effort. After a handful of posts in various places — and despite numerous comments pointing out that the twerk button claims were obviously fake — Google presented the assertions of “one Reddit user” at the top of its search results as definitive and authoritative, treating it like it would a press release from Rockstar or reporting from a legitimate news outlet.

Turning aside from our collective nightmare for just a moment, I actually think more games should have a twerk button. I don’t think it would have made sense for Red Dead Redemption 2, but there’s a ton of strip clubs and bikinis in Vice City. As the owner of a frankly untwerkable butt, I would embrace the opportunity to live my sleazy crime-sim fantasy and drop it like it’s hot in Rockstar’s latest magnum opus. And it’s no secret that Rockstar has got to refine how its contextual action buttons work. How many times did you accidentally pull a gun or take a swing at someone in Red Dead 2, only to get chased out of Valentine by lawmen for a sincere oopsie? A dedicated twerking button could help alleviate this issue in GTA 6 — no chance of accidentally pulling a gun when all you want to do is jiggle a little cheek. Would I pay $100 for it? I mean, a sandwich will probably cost $100 by the time GTA 6 comes out next May, so sure.

Also, if you’re still hanging around to find out whether GTA 6 will cost $70 or $100 dollars, the answer is yes. Yes to both. All of the above. There will be multiple SKUs and premium editions to choose from, with early access, slurp juices for your apes, and all sorts of downloadable content. This is not a juicy insider scoop, but informed speculation. Let’s just hope this doesn’t get crawled by Google AI.
