The Basse programme will support its participants through mentoring schemes and training sessions led by industry veterans.
GreenTech HQ, a not-for-profit innovation hub set up by serial entrepreneur Ed Murphy, has landed a €1m investment from Enterprise Ireland for a programme which aims to create 300 new jobs in the south-east region of Ireland.
The Wexford-based hub’s new Business Advantage and Sustainability South East (Basse) accelerator programme, launched today (11 April), is expected to drive growth across the region, providing SMEs in the area with access to tools, mentorship and the strategic frameworks required to scale their business.
GreenTech HQ calls the Basse programme the “first initiative of its kind in Ireland”. It is funded through Enterprise Ireland’s Smart Regions initiative, a national strategy aimed at driving innovation and economic resilience through regional enterprise development.
The Basse programme combines environmental, social and governance (ESG) integration, strategic scaling, leadership development and board-level advisory support, providing a pathway for SMEs to grow in the rapidly evolving economy.
According to GreenTech, Murphy has created more than 6,000 jobs during his career as an entrepreneur. The Wexford-native established the innovation hub in 2022 to create “worthwhile” jobs that allow people to stay and work in the region, while making developing sustainable tech solutions mainstream.
The €1m programme is designed for “growth-oriented companies” across the south-east region. It brings together successful entrepreneurs and business leaders to support the programme’s participants through one-to-one mentoring, structured transformation sessions, peer networks and a tailored SaaS platform.
Moreover, participants will benefit from exclusive access to high-profile mentors and EY Entrepreneur of the Year alumni including Jamie Heaslip, Norman Crowley, Anne Herathy, David Walsh, John Purdy, Annmarie Hennessy, Padraig O’Ceidigh and Michael Kearney.
“Basse is about more than growth – it’s about preparing south-east businesses to lead in a sustainable, resilient and future-focused economy,” said GreenTech HQ CEO Murphy.
“With the support of Enterprise Ireland and our exceptional mentors, we’re proud to offer a programme that’s truly tailored to the challenges and opportunities faced by ambitious SMEs.”
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne, TD, said that the investment into GreenTech HQ and the Basse programme “marks a major step forward for the south-east”.
“It demonstrates our commitment to building regional resilience and ensuring that innovation and opportunity are not confined to urban centres. This initiative will help foster the kind of sustainable, high-quality jobs our communities need to thrive.”
