Gran Turismo 7 Gets Update 1.61 With Three New Cars, New Events and Sophy Improvements

Developer Polyphony Digital has announced that the latest update for Gran Turismo 7, dubbed update 1.61, is out now. The update brings with it a host of new content, including three new cars and events.

The three cars headlining the update are the ‘05 NISMO R34 GT-R Z-Tune—an ultra-rare car of which only 19 were ever produced in the real world by Nissan’s performance division—along with the ‘22 Honda N-ONE RS, and the ‘22 Nissan Qashqai Tekna 190 2wd e-Power.

The R34 GT-R Z-Tune is quite clearly the big star of the update. The car, built using the R34 Skyline GT-R as its base, was produced by Nissan to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary back in 2004. The car is powered by the RB26DETT Kai-Z2 engine with the same 2.8L setup as the GT500 class GT-R race cars of the time.

Even the chassis of the car was designed with reliability and performance in mind, with extra spot welds added around areas like the door frame, and areas that were prone to distortion from welding heat were reinforced with molded CFRP parts. When it comes to control, the car featured suspension made by SACHS, and the car was able to achieve the target of 1.6G braking force.

The other Nissan car added through the update, the Qashqai Tekna 190 2wd e-Power, is a third-generation car of the Qashqai line. Featuring a larger body than its predecessor, the car is based on the CMF-C/D3 platform that is able to offer a combination of ride comfort as well as responsive handling.

Powering the car under the hood is the proprietary e-Power series-hybrid system by Nissan that uses the engine to power a generator, which in turn produces electricity to power the car’s motors to turn its wheels.

And finally, the update will include the ‘22 Honda N-ONE RS—a second-generation car in a line that was originally created to feature the motifs behind Honda’s original N360. The car featured in the update is a sports model of the N-ONE, as designated by the RS in its name, which stands for Road Sailing. This means that the front-mounted engine powering the car is also turbocharged, along with being front-wheel drive coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission system.

Along with the cars, Gran Turismo 7 is also getting three new events in the World Circuits game mode – Lightweight K-Cup Nürburgring Nordschleife, Japanese FF Challenge 450: Alsace – Test Course, and Race of Turbo Sportscars: Fuji International Speedway. The racing AI agent Sophy has also seen some improvements, and can now be used in one more race course through Quick Race and Custom Race modes: High Speed Ring.

Smaller additions to the game through the update include Lone Pine as a new addition as part of the featured Curation in Scapes, as well as the addition of the new base colour ANEST IWATA Racing 2025 for the ‘17 Lexus RC F GT3 in the Lexus Showroom through the Brand Central menu.
