The anticipation surrounding Google’s Pixel 10a is building, even though the Pixel 9a hasn’t been on sale for very long.
As Google is reportedly already planning its mid-range phone for 2026, speculation is rife about the release date, pricing and what the phone will offer in terms of features and specs.

When will the Google Pixel 10a be released?
Though the Pixel 10 phones have just been announced on 20 August at the Made by Google event, the A-series wasn’t part of the announcement.
Don’t worry, though, because that’s a normal part of Google’s current release schedule, the flagship range gets announced in the summer – normally August – and then the mid-range model arrives in the following spring.
Google’s mid-range Pixel phones have typically launched in a predictable annual cycle. However, the Pixel 9a was unveiled in March 2025 and its release date was then immediately postponed to April.
Android Headlines suggests this is a new permanent release schedule for Pixel A phones, meaning the Pixel 10a would be expected in March 2026.

How much will the Google Pixel 10a cost?
There is no official word on pricing for the Pixel 10a, but it’s expected to remain competitive within the mid-range market. Previous Pixel A models have typically been priced between £349/$349 and £499/$499 at launch.
However, Android Authority’s report indicates that cost-cutting measures, such as potentially using an older processor, could help Google maintain or even reduce the Pixel 10a’s price compared to its predecessors.
If Google decides to use the Tensor G4 processor instead of the newer Tensor G5, this could significantly impact the pricing strategy, keeping the Pixel 10a affordable for its target audience.
Ultimately, expect at least the same £499/$499 starting price, as it has remained since the Pixel 8a.

What specs and features will the Google Pixel 10a have?
Although details about the Pixel 10a are scarce, some early rumours provide hints about what the device may offer.
Design
The Pixel 10a will likely follow Google’s new design language for the Pixel A phones, ditching the Pixel 8a’s visor-style camera bar and replacing it with a small camera section that sits almost flush with the back of the phone (pictured below).
The phone might also retain the Pixel 9a’s premium metal and glass build, plus an IP68 rating. In terms of colours, Google likes to change some every year, but Obsidian (black) and Porcelain (grey) finishes are certain.
Display
The Pixel 9a boasts a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2424) pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2700 nits. An optical fingerprint sensor is also embedded within the screen.
The Pixel 10a might follow suit, but anything beyond that would likely be reserved for the flagship Pixel 10 models.
Performance
One of the most debated aspects of the Pixel 10a is its processor. Android Authority’s report suggests Google is considering either a stripped-down version of the Tensor G5 chip, which will power the Pixel 10 series, or reusing the older Tensor G4 from the Pixel 9a.
If the Tensor G4 is chosen, it could mean the Pixel 10a would lack some of the advanced AI and camera features enabled by the newer G5. While this may help control costs, it could also make the device less appealing than some mid-range rivals in the same price range.
The Pixel 9a’s Tensor G4 is paired with 8GB of RAM and either 128- or 256GB of non-expandable storage. We expect the Pixel 10a to feature at least the same configurations.
Cameras
Google’s A-series phones are known for their excellent cameras, often punching above their weight in terms of image quality. While specific details about the Pixel 10a’s camera setup are unavailable, it’s likely to include a dual-camera system, featuring a main wide-angle lens and an ultra-wide lens.
As a reminder, the standard Pixel 9a features a 48Mp main camera (identical to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold), a 13Mp ultrawide camera, and a 13Mp selfie camera, so we might expect a similar setup.
Battery & Charging
Battery life on the Pixel 10a will be critical, especially if the device uses older hardware, which could be less power-efficient. The Pixel 9a features a bigger 5100mAh battery with support for 23W wired charging, and it’s very likely that the Pixel 10a will feature the same specs.
Wireless charging is also likely to be available on the Pixel 10a, as 7.5W Qi wireless charging made its debut on the Pixel A series with the Pixel 9a.
Software
The Pixel 10a is expected to launch with the latest version of Android, likely Android 16, but it depends on its release date.
As with all Pixel devices, users can anticipate a clean, bloatware-free software experience, along with class-leading seven years of OS and security updates.
