The Pixel 10a got off to a rocky start. Even before it went on sale, it was heavily criticised for a lack of upgrades from its predecessor.
Now we’ve reviewed it and our initial conclusion hasn’t changed. We’re not alone in this – every other tech site agrees. The almost identical Pixel 9a is a much better deal at its reduced RRP of £349, and we’ve seen it as low as £299.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Google has just given you another reason to avoid its 2026 mid-range smartphone.
The regular Pixel 10 is on sale with a whopping £250 off, bringing the price down to just £549. That’s only £50 more than the 10a.
You can get it at this price from the official Google store, as well as retailers such as Amazon, Argos and Currys. Amazon says that its deal ends on 8 April, and other retailers are likely to follow suit, so don’t delay too much.

For that very small extra sum, you get a load of stuff that the 10a misses out on, such as Pixelsnap magnetic wireless charging (which is also faster at 15W), a 5x telephoto rear camera, a more powerful Tensor G5 processor, 12GB of RAM and a better ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
That’s a lot of upgrades, even if the Pixel 10 is a little heavier and doesn’t have the completely flush back design.
‘Piggy in the middle’ is the phrase that comes to mind. If you’re thinking about buying the Pixel 10a, please consider ‘downgrading’ to the much better value 9a or upgrading while the flagship 10 is available in this tempting deal.
