Even if it didn’t have a strong presence at State of Play, Sucker Puncher’s Ghost of Yōtei receives a dedicated deep dive next month with more details. In the meantime, the Entertainment Software Rating Board has rated the PS5 exclusive, bestowing an “M for Mature 17+.”
The cited reasons include “Intense Violence, Language, Blood and Gore,” and so on. It outlines many aspects of the gameplay, including bounties, duels, and fighting with spears, bows, katanas, and rifles. You can expect the usual blood-spatter effects with some attacks capable of decapitating or dismembering foes.
Like the first game, the cutscenes are full of brutality, with examples like “characters burned at the stake, a man repeatedly stabbed with a knife,” and a “character slitting their own throat.” It also confirms that you can purchase sake and take part in a drinking game.
Ghost of Yōtei launches on October 2nd for PS5. Set over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, it features a new protagonist, Atsu, who embarks on a quest for revenge against the Yōtei Six. She can hunt them in any order and, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, camp anywhere. Stay tuned for more details when the next State of Play hits.
