While Sucker Punch’s highly-anticipated follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei, arrives this year, a release date is still pending. We’ve also yet to see extensive gameplay, though the official PlayStation page confirmed new weapon types and PS5 Pro support.
However, former SIE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida played it during early development and offered extensive praise. Appearing on the Easy Allies Podcast, he revealed it was “kind of bug-free” and “somehow the game doesn’t crash.” “They have been changing the battle so many times, but still, it always works.”
Even after leaving Sony, Yoshida was invited to playtest the game and offer feedback. “It always felt great.” He also noted that Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch stand out for “always making the game feel right” and that their titles felt “so natural and intuitive to play”.
Ghost of Yōtei unfolds over 300 years after Tsushima’s events and focuses on a new protagonist, Atsu. On a mission to hunt those responsible for killing her family, she dons the Ghost moniker and ventures to Hokkaido, taking on various bounties.
While further details have yet to be revealed, Sucker Punch has confirmed that players will have more control over the story. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
