Gemini has launched the Gemini Credit Card® XRP Edition, giving users the chance to earn crypto every time they spend. According to Gemini, the card lets holders “earn up to 4 per cent XRP back on every purchase with no annual fee.”
The company adds that users can also receive a welcome bonus: “Get $200 in XRP when you spend $3,000 in your first 90 days.” Rewards can be swapped into bitcoin or more than 50 other cryptocurrencies, and Gemini highlights that “XRP rewards earned on The Gemini Credit Card® and held for at least 1 year have appreciated an average of 452.9 per cent.”
While functionality is the same as other Gemini cards, the XRP Edition comes with a design aimed at the so-called “XRP Army.” The card works with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. It is available in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, but not outside the U.S.
XRP itself is promoted as a faster, cheaper, and greener alternative to Bitcoin. As XRPL.org explains, “XRP can settle transactions on the ledger in 3–5 seconds,” with an average cost of just $0.0002 per transaction, compared to Bitcoin’s $0.50.
