Four people killed and dozens injured in Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih

The missile struck a hotel around 10pm local time, immediately killing two men and a woman, according to local officials. Another man died in hospital later on.

At least four people were killed by a Russian missile that hit a hotel in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih on Wednesday night.

A further 31 people were injured, including one child, according to local rescue services.

Fourteen of the victims remain in a serious condition, said regional governor Serhii Lysak.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was born in Kryvyi Rih, wrote on the social media platform X that aid workers from Ukraine, the US and the UK were among those staying at the hotel.

“They survived because they managed to escape their rooms,” he said, without specifying whether they had been injured.

The country’s president thanked all the emergency responders who carried out a rescue operation overnight.

Zelenskyy added that Moscow should be forced to end its aggression in Ukraine.

“There must be no pause in the pressure on Russia to stop this war and terror against life,” he said.

The missile attack, which took place at around 10 pm local time (9 pm CET) on Wednesday evening, also reportedly damaged 14 residential buildings in the city.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, drone attacks in Sumy, Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kherson were said to have killed four people.

Ukraine’s air force said it had shot down 68 out of the 112 drones launched at Ukraine overnight by Russia.

The missile attack on Kryvyi Rih came just hours after the Trump administration confirmed that it had stopped sharing military intelligence with Ukraine.

The US has also paused military support to Ukraine, following a heated discussion in the White House last Friday between Trump and Zelenskyy.
