Ex-Premier League prodigy Causso Darame has been jailed for robbing and stabbing a 19 year old with a ‘Rambo’ knife.
25 year old Darame, who was signed by Swansea City aged 16, has been sentenced to over four years in prison over an incident which occurred in the early hours outside Ken’s Fried Chicken in Portsmouth, where Darame attacked 19-year-old Ronnie Evans, stabbing him in the leg and robbing him of his neck chain and bracelet.
The attack left Evans with severe injuries, including paralysis from the knee down due to nerve damage. Darame turned to crime, including dealing drugs.
Causso Darame, who once compared himself to the likes of Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo left Ronnie Evans with “life-changing injuries” following the attack in May last year.
He has since admitted to robbery and possession of a knife, leading to his conviction at Portsmouth Crown Court.

He expressed feelings of having “failed” his partner and their newborn child, subsequently resorting to the use of heroin and crack cocaine.
The father from Cardiff, narrowly missed an artery in Mr Evans’s leg by mere “millimetres” during the incident, as revealed in court.
As a result of the attack, the victim endured “indescribable pain” due to the severing of two nerves.
Darame was now been sentenced to four years and four months after pleading guilty to robbery and possession of a knife.
Prosecutor Paul Fairley informed the court that Evans was at Ken’s Chicken Shop with two friends when he encountered Darame, who was 23 years old at the time, around 3am on the 12th of May 2023.
Following this, Evans and his friend Oliver Geen crossed the road, only to realise that Darame was behind them.
Mr Fairley said: “This time he had the large knife described as a Rambo knife. I imagine some sort of hunting-type knife.”
The pair ran off before Mr Evans heard Darame shouting “I’m going to catch you, and when I catch you, I’m going to kill you”, the prosecutor said.
“He ended up on the ground, where he was stabbed in the leg with a large knife, and at the same time a necklace around his neck and another chain he was wearing around his wrist, were snatched by the defendant, who then ran off.
“The victim had quite serious injuries – a large degree of blood loss at the scene where it happened, [and the] severing of two major nerves.
“Luckily, as far as everyone in the case was concerned, the knife missed by a few millimetres the major blood vessels in his leg.”
In a victim impact statement, Evans reported that he has suffered paralysis in his leg from the knee down, which has made him incapable of walking without the aid of a splint on his foot.
This injury, along with the pain resulting from nerve damage, has prevented him from pursuing his career as an apprentice electrician.
Evans, now aged 20, had previously an active lifestyle, with a love for playing tennis at a competitive level from a young age; however, he’s no longer able to participate in sports as he once did, as stated in court.
Daniel Reilly, representing the defense, informed the court that Darame had been in the youth system at Swansea, before earning a two-year professional contract at the age of 18.
However, when he was dropped by the club, his contract terminated, he “struggled to cope” and got involved with drug dealers, the court heard.
Mr Reilly said: “There was a feeling on Mr Darame’s part that he needed to be a provider, he felt that he was failing in what he saw as part of his role within the family and that’s where he struggled to cope.
“And that’s where drugs came to feature, and with that the introduction to other individuals who themselves were involved in activities that had never been any part of Mr Darame’s previous lifestyle.”
Judge Daniel Neill stated that Darame’s actions had changed the life of a man “in the prime of his youth”, as he sentenced him to four years and four months for the robbery, and three months for the knife possession, with the sentences to run concurrently.
