The super-rich tech trio, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, will attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, according to several reports.
In terms of richness, Musk ranks number one, Bezos number two, and Zuckerberg number three, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. They have a combined net worth of $885 billion (€805.35 billion).
The three tech titans will be seated prominently at the ceremony, alongside Cabinet nominees and elected officials, symbolising their strategic alignment with the incoming administration.
Elon Musk’s new governmental role and donation to Trump’s campaign
Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, has been appointed co-lead of the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), alongside businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. As reported by NBC News, this agency aims to streamline government operations.
Financially, Musk has been a major supporter of Trump, reportedly donating more than $250 million (€227.5 million) to his campaign. This significant backing aligns with Musk’s federal contracts for SpaceX’s rocket launches and Starlink services, which are vital for government operations.
Bezos donates to Trump’s inaugural fund
Amazon, under Jeff Bezos’ leadership, has reportedly donated $1 million (€910,000) to Trump’s inaugural fund. The company is also live-streaming the event on Prime Video, contributing another $1 million, according to insider sources cited by CBS News.
Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, opted not to endorse any candidate during the 2024 election.
Zuckerberg’s donation to Trump’s inaugural fund
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has reportedly contributed $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. In addition, Puck News revealed that Zuckerberg is co-hosting a black-tie reception with Republican megadonor Miriam Adelson to celebrate.
Meta has changed its content rules to align with Republican priorities, including “free speech”.
Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg’s attendance at the inauguration highlights the growing influence of tech on modern governance. As reports suggest, these alliances may shape federal policy on taxes, trade, and technology regulation, particularly in areas impacting their businesses.
