Dominik Szoboszlai wasn’t happy with Liverpool’s supporters after their 4-0 loss against Manchester City which saw their FA Cup campaign come to a miserable end
Dominik Szoboszlai has been labelled ‘arrogant’ for his outburst towards the travelling Liverpool fans after their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Manchester City. After a bright start, Arne Slot’s side were hammered at the Etihad Stadium and the result saw them crash out of the FA Cup.
Liverpool were allocated 8,000 supporters for the quarter-final but the vast majority had left by full-time. City were already four goals to the good before the hour mark, largely thanks to Erling Haaland’s hat-trick, and the Reds’ day got worse when Mo Salah had a penalty saved in the closing stages.
Szoboszlai and his team-mates trudged over to the few hundred fans who’d stayed behind after the final whistle, and he didn’t look impressed by the criticism they were receiving. The Hungarian attempted to gee up Liverpool’s hardy supporters, who had to endure yet another embarrassing loss in what’s been a woeful season.
After shrugging his shoulders multiple times, Szoboszlai stopped applauding and waved his arms. The 25-year-old didn’t seem to get the desired reaction and had to be pulled away by Federico Chiesa.

A video of Szoboszlai’s behaviour has gained traction on social media and fans aren’t happy. One supporter fumed: “Do these players have a clue the cost of going to all these games after working hard all week with the overwhelming majority of fans spending a large portion of their working class wages watching this? And these millionaire players have the cheek to ask for more support.”
A second added: “F***ing such an arrogant player. How can he be prepared to kick the paying travelling supporters?” A third posted on X: “Travelling fans pay your wages, clap and get down the tunnel, theatrics don’t work with the supporters.”

Following his outburst, Szoboszlai spoke to TNT Sports and criticised his team-mates for not showing enough ‘fighting spirit’. “The mentality wasn’t there enough,” the midfielder added.
“None of us were there to be honest as much as we could. It’s a hard time but we have to stick together. On Wednesday, there is another chance but we have to get in our head this is not the season we would like to end.”
Liverpool travel to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. The Reds then host Fulham next Saturday.
