CR7 hints at Santiago Bernabeu reunion as Saudi mega-money deal looms… But would it be as a player, as a manager, or as something entirely different? Read on to find out!
Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped an explosive hint about a potential return to Real Madrid in the near future, admitting that his time at the Bernabeu was the “happiest” of his glittering career, and refusing to rule out a return.
The lure of Real Madrid is undeniable. It’s where top players go to become legends, and it always has been. And CR7 is no different in that respect. The Portuguese superstar, now 39, is nothing short of royalty in Madrid. After swapping Manchester United for Los Blancos in 2009, Ronaldo transitioned from a young world-class player into an all-time great, smashing an unbelievable 450 goals in 438 games and hoovering up 15 major trophies, including four Champions League crowns.
While plenty of legends have worn the famous white shirt, few have left a mark as deep as Ronaldo’s. And now, the man himself has cracked open the door for a sensational reunion in the near future.
Is Ronaldo returning to Real Madrid?
During a recent candid interview, Ronaldo sent Madridistas into meltdown when he refused to rule out a return. Spanish journalist Eduardo Aguirre asked CR7 about a possible return to Real Madrid, and the Portuguese GOAT teased: “Maybe after ending my career, something can happen.”
The veteran striker, who is still banging them in for fun at Al-Nassr, made no secret of his love for the Spanish giants, calling his time there “the happiest for me in terms of football.” With only a few years left to his playing career, could we see CR7 make the greatest comeback of all time by returning to the White House? This is, after all, the place where he cemented his place among the all-time greats.
How much is CR7 paid per week?
But before Madrid fans worldwide start booking flights to the Bernabeu, there’s one enormous obstacle: Ronaldo’s mind-blowing Saudi salary.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is currently raking in staggering wages at Al-Nassr, and despite his contract expiring this summer, reports suggest he may be on the verge of a monster new deal worth around 170 million euros per year. That’s around 13.5 million euros per month or over 4 million euros per week – numbers that even Madrid might struggle to match for an ageing player with only a few years left on the pitch.
Can CR7 hit the magic 1,000?
Despite edging towards 40, Ronaldo has zero intention of hanging up his boots anytime soon. The ex-United icon is chasing a personal mission – to hit 1,000 career goals before calling it quits.
With 920 goals already under his belt, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. He recently bagged another one in Al-Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Fateh.
Madrid return? Watch this space…
For now, Ronaldo remains king of the desert, ruling the Saudi Pro League with his relentless goal addiction and eye-watering wages.
But if his cryptic comments are anything to go by, Real Madrid fans might not have seen the last of their greatest-ever No.7. It’s no secret that Ronaldo wants to cement his name in history as the greatest. Could Real Madrid offer him a way into management? Could he be brought back to the Spanish capital as an ambassador for the club? Watch this space.
