A deeply disturbing hard drive alongside other items were found on a property of Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
New claims by German police suggest that the British girl is dead, according to a 2016 investigation that’s being revealed today.
New files linked to suspect Christian Brueckner’s obsession with children
A new Channel 4 and The Sun documentary has uncovered what authorities describe as a “chilling” collection of evidence found at Brueckner’s property in Neuwegersleben, Germany. The site, a disused factory, was bought in 2008 for £20,000 (€23,300).
During the search, police found:
- A wallet containing six USB sticks and two memory cards
- 75 children’s swimming costumes
- Guns, masks, and chemicals
- A hard drive with images taken in Portugal
These discoveries were described as so disturbing that a full-scale search involving 100 officers was launched, according to GB News.
Christian Brueckner’s hard drive may be key in Madeleine McCann case
German investigators believe the contents of the hard drive support their long-standing claim that Madeleine McCann is sadly dead.
In some of the photographs, Brueckner is seen at the Arade Dam, a site searched in 2023 in connection with the case. Others reportedly show him modelling a mask and posing nude.
The documentary also reveals that the USB sticks contained graphic fictional stories written by Brueckner, including one involving the abuse of a four-year-old girl. He is also alleged to have discussed his fantasies during Skype chats with other paedophiles. One chilling line quoted from a conversation reads: “Capture something small and use it for days.”
New details place Brueckner in key locations after Madeleine’s disappearance:
- He was photographed at the Arade Dam, a notable search site
- A satnav recovered by police tracked his movements in the area
- An insurance document shows he was in Orgiva, Spain, in April 2008
Brueckner reportedly told a friend at the time of a festival in 2008, “Madeleine didn’t scream,” according to said friend named “Helge B”. Helge B has in court said Brueckner made this incriminating statement, but there have been questions about his credibility.
Christian Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year sentence in Sehnde Prison, near Hanover, for raping a pensioner in Praia da Luz in 2005 – two years before Madeleine went missing. In October, he was acquitted of other rapes and sexual offences, but still has a year left to serve. One of the acquittals involved a woman from Ireland who recently sued Portuguese authorities over the handling of her alleged rape case involving Christian Brueckner.
Brueckner has consistently denied any involvement in Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
