We continue to hear that Chelsea want a new goalkeeper still this summer and are expected back in with a late return move for Mike Maignan.
However, we have to just wait and see what happens and what they actually do decide to do.
But I’m pretty confident they will still be bringing in a new goalkeeper and will not be stupid enough to go with what they’ve got.
Also, it’s VERY obvious that they are still looking for new goalkeepers this summer despite the fact they keep trying to play it down and shut down links. There is never smoke without fire, and Chelsea are once again linked with another new goalkeeper.
Chelsea have been linked with yet another goalkeeper – with the Blues reportedly set to rival West Ham for Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen.
The Daily Mail claims that Chelsea and West Ham are interested in signing the Danish stopper following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship.
Maresca obviously had Hermansen at Leicester, so it’s an easy link to make. But Tom Collomosse of The Daily Mail, the one who reported it, is a pretty good source.
It’s clear Chelsea want a new goalkeeper, and it’s clear they have been making checks on a number of names including Marc Ter-Stegen and Emi Martinez lately, with Chelsea interest absolutely being there for both.
I still think Chelsea will go back for Maignan later in the window (I was always told late in July). But we will just have to wait and see what happens here now. I think a new goalkeeper arrives regardless because I know they have been trying to sign one for a while now and I refuse to believe they are not stupid enough to go with what they’ve got for another season. We have to give them some credit and I will give them even more if/when they sign a decent and suitable new goalkeeper.
