Insurance salesperson, Beverly Ortega, 30, was one of the many hopefuls on The Bachelor. However, during the start of the series, Beverly disappeared out of nowhere, and didn’t have the chance to announce it on the show, nor say “goodbye” to bachelor, Grant Ellis. Beverly Ortega Didn’t Have a Choice When It Came Down to Leaving the Show
Beverly was chosen to go on a one-on-one date with Grant, however, she got sick. Contestant Parisa Shifteh revealed in her confessional on the show: “Today was supposed to be Beverly’s one-on-one with Grant. But yesterday morning she was very sick. And today we found out that she will not be coming back to the house.” The news came as a shock being that it was a huge week for her on the show, and she left without announcing it herself.
Beverly went on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast on February 11, 2025, to share what happened behind the scenes. She explained that she took a nap while the other women went on their group date, and she woke up with a stomachache and eventually began throwing up. She shared that she was in “excruciating pain” and her vomiting lasted over 12 hours. During her time in the hospital, she found out that she had appendicitis and she had to undergo emergency surgery.
Beverly had to get the surgery in California where the series films, and she wasn’t allowed to get on a plane back to New York alone, therefore, her mom flew out to California to help her get back home. The contestant shared: “Honestly, it took me, like, a month and a half to recover emotionally. Physically, obviously, I was OK, but emotionally, I was not. I left with the ‘what if.’ Obviously, we were building a connection. He saw and felt exactly what I was seeing and feeling. And I know they didn’t show a lot of our moments, but we did have a lot of cute little moments.”
