Ben Potter — known as YouTube’s “Comicstorian” — has died, his family confirmed in a public statement. The late Internet personality’s cause of death was due to an “unfortunate accident.” However, it’s not known what exactly caused Ben’s tragic death at the time of publication.

Ben Was Married
The late YouTube star’s wife, Nathalie Potter, announced his death in a statement posted to X on June 10, 2024. In her announcement, Nathalie confirmed that Ben had died on June 8, 2024. Nathalie went on to describe her late husband as “someone who would listen and make time for his loved ones” and “would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay.”
While adding that she needed time “to be with friends and family” to drive, Nathalie called Ben the “rock” of their family.” She also asked fans to respect her privacy, noting that she had “so many things” to “figure out” following Ben’s death.
“Right now, my priority is preserving everything he’s built, and I don’t have any plans beyond that,” Nathalie added. “His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this. … The team and I want to keep that going. To honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive. We supported each other on everything we wanted to do and I’m not about to stop now.”

He Died From an ‘Unfortunate Accident’
In Nathalie’s announcement, she revealed that Ben had suffered from an “unfortunate accident.”
“Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident,” Nathalie tweeted. “To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for. As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine.”
Ben Was Known as the ‘Comicstorian’
As many of his subscribers knew, Ben was the internet’s “Comicstorian.” He frequently discussed Marvel and DC Comic stories in his videos.
“Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies,” his wife wrote in her statement. “It was through his love of exciting stories and well written characters that got him started on YouTube.”
His YouTube Channel Has More Than 3 Million Subscribers
Before he died, Ben’s YouTube channel had garnered more than three million subscribers. Just one day before his death, Ben shared his last video to his channel.
