Australian proptech firm PropHero relocates headquarters to Spain and secures major EU-backed funding to double growth.
BBVA Spark has provided €2.5 million in financing to digital real estate platform PropHero as the Australian-founded startup shifts its headquarters to Spain and targets a major expansion in the country’s housing market.
The deal, announced August 4, 2025, is supported by the European Investment Fund under the InvestEU programme and will bolster PropHero’s liquidity as it seeks to double its business volume in Spain by the end of next year.
About PropHero
Founded in Australia, PropHero operates in four countries and currently boasts over 10,000 active users. Its platform uses AI and data analytics to help users make smarter property investments, offering digital tools for remote buyers and portfolio builders.
BBVA Spark, the innovation unit launched by BBVA in 2022, chose to support PropHero based on its scalable business model and disruptive tech.
“PropHero exemplifies the kind of digital, ambitious company BBVA Spark aims to back, as it can have a real impact on the sector,” said Miguel Ángel Alcalá, BBVA Spark’s head in Spain, as quoted by BBVA’s press release.
PropHero co-founder Pablo Gil called the investment “fundamental” to the company’s plans to grow and meet rising demand for digital real estate solutions.
The funding marks another example of EU financial support boosting innovative startups through the InvestEU programme. BBVA Spark’s tailored approach provides services from basic banking to venture debt, helping fast-growing companies like PropHero scale globally from Spain.
