Battlefield 6 Will Have Two Betas in August; One Closed and One Open – Rumour

While EA had previously confirmed that the upcoming competitive shooter Battlefield 6 would be getting an open beta before launch, the company hasn’t yet revealed when this beta will take place. A new report, courtesy of Insider Gaming, indicates that Battlefield 6 will get two betas in August alone, with one being closed while the other is open.

Citing anonymous sources, the report says that the closed beta will take place on August 7, and will be live until August 8. Codes for this closed beta are expected to be given out during Twitch streams of EA-affiliated content creators that will be simul-watching the multiplayer reveal later today. Pre-ordering the game is also believed to be one of the ways to get a code for this beta.

This closed beta is also expected to transition into an open beta on August 9, going on until August 10.

The second rumoured beta will be the fully open one, and will reportedly go live on August 14. This will be a longer beta, taking place over the course of four days until August 17. Reports haven’t yet been able to figure out what kind of content will be present in the Battlefield 6 beta, however. Considering the history of the franchise, though, a couple of maps and the inclusion of Conquest and Rush modes seems like the obvious choice.

After several months of playtesting, Battlefield 6 was officially unveiled earlier this month with a trailer. While not too many details were revealed, the trailer did indicate that the upcoming title will focus on the modern style of warfare with boots-on-the-ground infantry alongside heavily-equipped armored vehicles, and even aerial dogfights taking place all over the maps.

While EA hasn’t yet confirmed the release date for Battlefield 6, a report from last week indicates that the company is aiming to release the title on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10. The report also stated that the game would be priced at €79.99/$79.99 on consoles, and €69.99/$69.99 on PC.

However, EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed in a recent earnings call that the company doesn’t currently have plans to change its pricing strategies for its upcoming games. Answering a question about Battlefield 6 would cost $80, Wilson said, “We’re not looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage, but that’s in the construct of we already offer a fairly broad pricing scheme across our various products.”

“When you think about everything from free-to-play through to our premium products and our Deluxe editions, our orientation is always to capture the full spectrum of pricing so that we can serve players in the best way possible and offer them the greatest value,” he explained. “We’ll continue to look at opportunities to deliver great value to our players through various pricing schemes over the course of time, but no dramatic changes planned yet.”

More details about Battlefield 6 are slated to be revealed later today once the game’s multiplayer gameplay reveal event goes live, so stay tuned for that.
