Battlefield 6 Beta Details Revealed, Open Beta Will Kick Off on August 14

Alongside revealing quite a few details about the multiplayer for Battlefield 6, EA, along with developers Ripple Effect, DICE and Criterion, has also confirmed the planned beta tests for the title over the coming month. During its big presentation for the game, the company confirmed that there will be two beta periods for the title, with one of them being split into two days of closed beta before being opened up, and the other being an open beta.

The first beta will start off as a closed on on August 7, and will remain closed until August 8. This beta is meant for players that participated in the Battlefield Labs playtests earlier this year. On August 9, the beta will open up to everyone before ending on August 10. The second beta will be fully open, and will start on August 14 before coming to an end on August 17.

These beta details fall in line with a report from earlier today which indicated the exact same dates. It is worth noting that there has still been no confirmation about what kind of content will be available through these betas for Battlefield 6.

In its big multiplayer reveal, Battlefield 6 is confirmed to have four maps at launch: Egypt, Gibraltar, Tajikistan, and Brooklyn. These four maps will all feature a heavy mix of close-quarters infantry-centric combat, as well as open battle zones that can be driven over by heavy vehicles like tanks, and even flown over in jets and helicopters. The maps can also be sliced up into smaller “combat zones” to then be used in some of the smaller-scale game modes that the title will have alongside the signature Conquest, Rush and Breakthrough modes.

Battlefield 6 will also feature modes like Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill, and a new mode dubbed Escalation, which will make use of the combat zones from the larger maps to have smaller-scaled combat zones more suitable for these modes.

Other details revealed for the title include the fact that it will be bringing back the franchise’s traditional class system, with each class having access to its own set of signature weapons and tools. The classes will all be specialised to excel in specific roles. Where the Engineer can act as a deterrent to enemy tanks thanks to their explosives, the Recon can snipe infantry from a distance by making use of their own tools and weapons.

Battlefield 6 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10. More details about the game are slated to be revealed as we get closer to the release date, including details about its single-player campaign which will feature an entire world that is about to get into open conflict. Details have also been revealed about the two editions of Battlefield 6 that are available – a $69.99 standard edition, and a $99.99 Phantom Edition, which includes a host of in-game goodies, including weapon skins, character skins, and even vehicle skins. Check out our coverage for more details.
