Obsidian Entertainment and Microsoft’s Avowed has launched globally for everyone, after becoming available in advanced access for Premium Edition owners last week. Upon its release, the fantasy action RPG has seen an uptick in player numbers.
Having seen a peak of over 13,000 concurrent players on Steam during its advanced access period, on the day of its full release, Avowed climbed to a peak of 17,171 concurrent players on the platform (via SteamDB). In comparison, Obsidian Entertainment’s previous RPG release, The Outer Worlds, has an all-time peak of 20,349 concurrent players on the platform.
It’s worth noting, as ever with first-party Xbox titles, that Avowed is also available via PC Game Pass, which will likely have pulled a chunk of its Steam player base away. Additionally, new releases also tend to see increased player activity over their first weekend following launch, so the coming days might also see Avowed’s graph climbing a little more.
In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Avowed doesn’t reinvent the wheel and it isn’t the most deep or complex RPG, but thanks to strong writing, storytelling, world-building, combat, and exploration, it succeeds in delivering an engaging experience that fans of the genre will want to check out.” Read the full review through here.
Avowed is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
