Assassin’s Creed Shadows has finally delivered the long-awaited feudal Japan Assassin’s Creed adventure people have been waiting for for years, and sure enough, the open world epic is attracting players in large numbers.
As per SteamDB, on Thursday, the day of its global launch, Assassin’s Creed Shadows saw a peak of 41,412 players on Steam. It has exceeded the all-time peaks for both Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (15,679) and Mirage (7,870), though unlike those two, it did get a day one Steam release (not to mention Steam Deck compatibility right out the gate).
Meanwhile, its peak is currently roughly equal to that of Assassin’s Creed Origins (41,551), though it is separated by Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s peak (62,069) by quite some margin. That said, with the weekend around the corner, Shadows is likely to see its numbers continuing to climb, as is usually the case with new releases.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows also crossed 1 million players within under 24 hours of launch. It is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Read our review through here, where we awarded it a score of 9/10.
