With Assassin’s Creed Shadows out next month, Ubisoft will reportedly begin ramping up its marketing. Reviews will allegedly go live on March 18th, but the publisher has already proclaimed solid pre-orders, comparable to 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
What does that look like in raw figures? Sources told Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson that Shadows is currently at “around” 300,000 pre-orders. Interestingly, Star Wars Outlaws reportedly had less than half of that within a similar pre-launch time frame. Of course, Ubisoft would later confirm that launch sales for the title were “softer than expected.”
With Assassin’s Creed Odyssey seeing roughly 400,000 to 450,000 players on day one, Shadows is seemingly on track to meet that goal. Whether it can surpass it is a different matter.
Launching on March 20th, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. The developer recently confirmed that the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions run at an upscaled 2160p/60 FPS in Performance Mode. Head here for more details on the PC version’s features.
