With a 30-40 hour main story and roughly just as much optional content on offer (if not more), the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t going to have any shortage of content even right out the gate. For players looking to get yet more out of it, however, a New Game Plus option might also be in the pipeline- at some point.
The same was suggested by creative director Jonathan Dumont in an interview with Twitter user @Genki_JPN. As per Dumont, Ubisoft is “looking into” adding New Game Plus and “other modes” to Assassin’s Creed Shadows following its release, based on feedback from the community.
What “other modes” could refer to is anyone’s guess, though based on Ubisoft’s track record with prior Assassin’s Creed action RPGs, one would imagine a Discovery Tour mode is likely to be added.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 20. Meanwhile, Shadows’ first post-launch expansion, Claws of Awaji, will also bring an additional 10 hours of content upon its release in late 2025.
I had the opportunity to interview Assassin’s Creed Shadows Creative Director Jonathan Dumont. Here are some of the key points:
– Now was the right time for Japan because the team really wanted to do it and it was a dream for them.
– Japan needed movement in the natural world… pic.twitter.com/oMkOnoor7u— Genki✨ (@Genki_JPN) March 4, 2025
