Man Utd scout ‘wonderkid’ Ange’s plan

Despite the Premier League’s transfer window closing last Monday, the Manchester United midfielder could yet leave Old Trafford this month with the Brazilian window open until February 28.

A return to his native Brazil could therefore be in the offing for Casemiro, who has remained on the bench in nine of United’s last 11 Premier League games.

The Express adds: “The 32-year-old is the club’s highest earner, pocketing £350,000 per week on a contract that runs until next summer.

“Casemiro was linked with multiple clubs in January, including Al Nassr, AS Roma and Besiktas, but a move didn’t come to fruition.

“He looked set to stay at Old Trafford until at least the summer after the UK deadline passed with nothing in the works.

“But interest has reportedly emerged from the midfielder’s homeland, which could spark a move in the next two weeks.”

Man Utd scout ‘wonderkid’

The Daily Mail have picked up on reports Manchester United sent scouts to watch Sporting Lisbon star Geovany Quenda.

United are said to be interested in a summer move for the “wonderkid”, who is 17 years old and well known to Ruben Amorim during his time in Lisbon.

The Mail adds: “Amorim has been intent on putting his stamp on the side ever since being handed the reins and Quenda has been a name circulating the club for a while.

“Reports previously claimed that United had agreed a £50million deal with the Portuguese side to sign Quenda, yet nothing has been officially confirmed.

“Now, according to Record, United have sent scouts to watch Quenda and were in the stands as the winger for Sporting’s clash against Porto on Friday.

“The outlet further claim that The Red Devils will continue to assess Quenda on Tuesday night when they face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.”

Ange’s plan

Ange Postecoglou has given Tottenham’s players two days off in an attempt to reset their campaign, the Telegraph reports.

Spurs were knocked out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in the past week, and are languishing down in 14th in the Premier League table.

Spurs host fellow struggles Manchester United on Sunday, and Postecoglou hopes the time off can help his squad.

The Telegraph adds: “Postecoglou’s message to his players is likely to be that the two days off and the return of some absentees gives Spurs the chance to reset what has been a challenging season.

“The Australian also hopes that morale, as well as fitness levels, will be boosted by the return of players and having a short rest.

“Tottenham now have two weeks in which they do not play a midweek game, before the fixture list becomes more congested once the two last-16 legs of the UEFA Europa League take place in March.

“Tottenham must climb the league table and have the chance to leapfrog United by beating them on Sunday. Following the United game, Postecoglou’s team travel to Ipswich Town.”
