“I’ll leave him alone,” says Trump about Harry’s immigration case
US President Donald Trump has revealed he has no plans to deport Prince Harry, despite legal questions surrounding the Duke of Sussex’s immigration status. Speaking just days after launching a tough crackdown on illegal immigration, Trump said he was uninterested in targeting the British royal, even as controversy grows over Harry’s visa application.

In an interview with The New York Post, Trump remarked, “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

This is not the first time Trump has criticised Meghan Markle, with whom he has long shared a frosty relationship. However, his comments on Harry come amid increasing pressure to address allegations that the Duke may not have fully disclosed his past drug use when applying for a US visa.

Trump applauds Prince William, takes aim at Meghan Markle

While Trump criticised Meghan, he was full of praise for Harry’s older brother, Prince William, whom he described as ‘a great young man.’ The two reportedly met privately in Paris in December 2024 during the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral, where they had a cordial exchange.

The contrast between Trump’s positive remarks about William and his disdain for Harry and Meghan underlines a broader tension between the US president and the Sussexes. Harry and Meghan have been vocal critics of Trump in the past, often speaking out against his policies and public statements.

Prince Harry’s visa controversy sparks immigration debate

Prince Harry’s immigration status has come under scrutiny due to revelations in his 2023 memoir Spare. In the book, Harry openly discussed using drugs such as cocaine and cannabis, sparking concerns about whether he disclosed this information in his visa application.

The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security, demanding transparency about Harry’s visa process. “Anyone applying to the US must be truthful on their application, and it’s unclear whether that’s the case with Prince Harry,” said Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation.

Some critics have alleged that Harry may have received preferential treatment due to his high-profile status. The think tank also hinted that the Biden administration might have been lenient in approving his application, a claim the Sussexes have not addressed publicly.

Trump’s stance on Prince Harry divides opinions

While Trump’s decision to ‘leave Harry alone’ has drawn some support, others view it as inconsistent with his hardline stance on immigration. With Harry and Meghan continuing to make headlines, their role in US political and cultural discourse remains a hot topic.

As the legal challenges surrounding Harry’s visa unfold, it remains to be seen whether the Duke of Sussex will face further complications or if the issue will quietly fade away.
