Charlie Blackmon is no longer a Denver homeowner.
After retiring from a 14-year career with the Colorado Rockies at the end of the season, the outfielder sold his home in the Belcaro neighborhood for $130,000 under its list price.
The $4,170,000 sale of the Belcaro house closed Nov. 21.
Blackmon moved back to Georgia to live in Atlanta with his wife, Ashley, and their two young children.
He listed the 5,500-square-foot home in the gated community near Cherry Creek on Sept. 11 for $4.3 million. Blackmon purchased the house, constructed in 2014, for $2.8 million in June 2018.
After purchasing the home, Blackmon improved the outdoor space by adding performance tile and inlaid turf that extends around the side of the house for a dog run.
“We’ve loved the outdoor living space and think it’s among the best features of our home. The home gets great sunlight which lends itself to a dip in the pool or just enjoying the patio,” said Blackmon, who answered questions about the home in writing.
Blackmon said living in a gated community was beneficial for a local celebrity.
“When we purchased the home, we really liked how the community is a protected enclave,” he said.

Blackmon, a second-round draft pick, overcame injuries early in his career and finished with 227 home runs and 1,805 hits. He leads the Rockies with 68 triples and trails only Rockies first baseman Todd Helton in games played, runs, hits, doubles, extra-base hits and total bases.
