Watching Barcelona turn their attention back to La Liga duties this weekend, the Spanish giants will be desperate to extend their stay at the top of the table.
On a Sunday schedule that is also highlighted by a high-flying Atletico Madrid, we also have four Segunda showdowns on the cards.
Ahead of a stacked Sunday schedule from across Spain, we have taken a look at some of the most appealing betting markets.
15:15 Burgos vs Malaga
While Burgos might have been left heartbroken earlier in the month as they watched their Copa del Rey adventure come to an abrupt end, Sunday’s hosts have claimed a recent Segunda boost. Making an immediate return to winning ways last weekend as they clinched a 1-0 victory against Eldense, Luis Miguel Ramis has seen his squad collect six points from their previous three appearances. Signing off November with another gritty 1-0 win against Eibar, the Whites have registered back-to-back victories on home soil for the first time this season. Looking to drag themselves away from a looming relegation scrap, Burgos will be excited by a dominant record against Sunday’s guests. Including a 1-0 win when they welcomed Malaga to the Estadio Municipal El Plantio back in August 2022, they have taken 10 points from their four historic battles. If Burgos are to mount a dramatic late play-off charge, Sunday’s showdown will be seen as a crucial contest.
Although Malaga might have enjoyed a rugged start after making their Segunda return back in August, Los Albicelestes have largely come crashing back down to earth. Opening December with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Castellon, Sergio Pellicer’s men are without a win from any of their previous five matchups appearances. Watching their own Copa del Rey adventure come to an end on October 31st as they fell at the hands of fourth-tier outfit CD Esteopna, Sunday’s guests have also put just a pair of Segunda victories on the board since the middle of September. Knowing that they could be leapfrogged by Burgos this weekend, the one-time Valencia coach will have a real headache over his side’s glaring issues on the road. In fact, Malaga have failed to muster a single win from any of their first 10 matchups away from La Rosaleda since making their second-tier return. Hit with that 2-0 defeat when they last travelled to Castile and Leon back in August 2022, we are expecting a similar outcome.

20:00 Barcelona vs Leganes
While Barcelona might have been left frustrated last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate against Real Betis, the Spanish giants came roaring back on Wednesday night. Claiming an action-packed 3-2 win against Borussia Dortmund and taking a giant leap towards booking a Champions League knockout stage ticket, Sunday’s hosts will be looking to use that dramatic late flurry as a platform to build on. Now collecting seven points from their previous three appearances across all competitions, Hansi Flick’s side are also leading the chase at the top of the La Liga table. Notching 10 goals on their three-match unbeaten run, the former Bayern Munich boss will certainly be smelling a golden opportunity here. Enjoying what has been a sensational run of form this season, Raphinha should play a leading role in Catalonia. Along with registering six goals in as many Champions League appearances this season, the former Leeds star has also put 11 La Liga strikes on the board.
Although Leganes might have secured a La Liga return for this season, Borja Jimenez’s men have a real battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their top-flight status. Putting in a nightmare performance last weekend as they fell to a routine 3-0 drumming at home against Real Sociedad, the Cucumbers find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap. Marking their return from November’s international break with another 3-0 loss at the hands of defending champions Real Madrid, Sunday’s guests will be set for another heavyweight challenge here. Including a 4-3 defeat against Girona last month, Leganes have recorded just a pair of wins from any of their last 14 La Liga showdowns – a rut that stems back to August 25th. Pencilled in as a landslide underdog this weekend, Jimenez’s squad should also be concerned by a woeful record against the La Liga leaders. Including a 2-0 defeat when they last travelled to Catalonia, they have lost each of their previous four showdowns against Barcelona by an aggregate score of 9-1.
