If you frequently scroll endlessly through Instagram, you’ll almost certainly have come across a real catchy song that you want on your own playlist. Previously, you’d need to find the name of it and search manually on Spotify – but that ends now.
Spotify has teamed up with Instagram on a new feature that makes integrating songs from your feed to your playlist easier than ever before – all it takes is a tap and you won’t even need to leave the app.

How to save songs from Instagram to your Spotify playlist
Spotify has told us that this feature rolled out globally from 17 October. We successfully tested it both on iPhone and on Android in the UK.
If you can’t yet see the feature, ensure your apps are up to date, or wait a few days to see if it becomes available.
These are the steps you need to take, along with screenshots:
- Ensure both the Instagram and Spotify apps are up to date by checking in the app store
- When scrolling through Instagram, tap on a song you like
- You’ll then be taken to the song’s audio page
- Tap the ‘add’ button on the right-hand side with the Spotify logo (next to the play controls and under the large ‘use audio’ button)
- The first time you do this it will ask you to link your Spotify account
- Click ‘Agree’ on the terms and conditions – you can revoke access at any time in your settings
- Newly saved tracks can be found in your ‘Liked Songs’ playlist and under ‘Your Library’ in Spotify
- Once the accounts are linked, the ‘add’ button will just save songs with a single tap

Note that this feature doesn’t work for all audio – particularly if it’s original (such as dialogue or an edited piece). If you see an artist and a song pop up, it’s like to be supported.
Songs that aren’t simply won’t show the ‘add’ button.
