It’s been about a month since Baldur’s Gate 3 received Patch 7 on PC, adding mod support, new evil endings, and other changes. The patch went live this week for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, but how good was the reception? Pretty good, as per Larian, who revealed 1.7 million mods downloaded in the first 24 hours.
PC players are leaps and bounds ahead, with 22 million mods downloaded since September. Over 200 mods were uploaded with the Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit, with more than 768 mod authors working on the same. Perhaps most astonishing is over 40 percent of all current players use mods.
While this is Larian’s biggest update to the critically acclaimed RPG since it exited early access last year, it’s far from the last. The development team is still optimizing performance and working on quality-of-life features. Fans can also look forward to crossplay and Photo Mode, though there’s no ETA yet. Stay tuned for updates and check out our feature looking back on the RPG’s first year.
Mods have been available on console and Mac for less than a week, and you’re already smashing records!
Thank you to the mod authors who have been bringing their creations to life with the BG3 Toolkit, and thank you to all of the players now causing chaos in Faerûn. pic.twitter.com/UmXgTqpsa1
