The PlayStation 5 Pro is finally official and the talk of the town, though not for the best reasons. The $700 console launches in November sans a vertical stand and disc drive. Based on retail site sales, most users may prefer the horizontal orientation because the standalone PS5 disc drive is selling pretty well.
Wario 64 on Twitter noted that the disc drive was ranked eighth on the Best Sellers list for Amazon US while being sold out on Best Buy. It’s since dropped to 16th place on the former and remains unavailable through the latter. The disc drive retails for $79.99 and launched alongside the new PS5 Slim model in November 2023.
The PS5 Pro is available on November 7th. It includes a larger GPU than the base console with 60 Compute Units, advanced ray tracing, and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s AI-driven upscaling solution.
