Ninja Announces Three New Double Stack Models

Ninja’s 9.5 litre Double Stack XL is the brand’s newest and most innovative air fryer, cramming four zones of cooking space into a compact form that won’t overwhelm a smaller kitchen counter.

Or, at least, it was the newest until Ninja announced three new Double Stack models at IFA. These are coming to the UK, but we don’t yet know if they’ll be available in the US.

We were on hand to check them out in person. You can compare them to the best currently available Ninja air fryers and cookers in our round-up and browse all our favourite product from IFA in our IFA awards article.

At 7.6 litres, this is even more compact than the original 9.5-litre model. It has a very similar design, but it’s not nearly as deep.

We rate the original DoubleStack highly, but when we tested it (see our review), we did find that its depth means that it protrudes beyond other appliances on the counter – meaning that it’s not a perfect solution for every kitchen.

That shouldn’t be a problem with the new compact model.

Each cooking drawer has a 3.8L capacity and it has the same functionality as the earlier model, meaning you can use two different cooking methods simultaneously, but switch on the sync function and have them finish at the same time.

Ninja reckons it can still hold enough food to feed six people. We think that’s slightly optimistic but with two cooking areas per basket, it’s certainly maximising its space. Each drawer can cook 400g of chips, or a 1.2kg roast chicken.

It’s available in black, instead of the original model’s dark grey and we love this little model. Ninja hasn’t yet announced its price or release date but we’ll update this article when we know more.

Ninja also had the SL451 on display. This is another new DoubleStack XL model. It looks very much like the original, with a 9.5L capacity – except that it comes with a cooking probe. What this means is that it’s a better option for cooking fresh meat and fish and getting perfect results, rather than cooking frozen food, where it’s a simple matter of following the instructions on the packaging.

It has the same six cooking functions as its predecessor: air fry, max crisp, roast, bake, reheat, and dehydrate.

Again, no price or release date has been confirmed.

The third model Ninja unveiled is exactly the same as the original 9.5-litre Double Stack, except that it’s white, and will only be available from Currys.

While we think that the white model looks good on display, it’ll obviously require a bit more work to keep it looking good once it’s installed in your kitchen. Grey and black appliances do a good job of hiding the odd fleck of sauce or oil from your hob but a white appliance will show up every stray blob.

We expect this to be priced the same as the original, which you can buy for £229.99 from Currys. Unless you love cleaning, we’d recommend going for the original grey model. Read our review of the Double Stack XL to find out if it’s for you.
