Following details on Skills, gear, debuffs, and companion abilities in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, BioWare wrapped its high-level showcase by highlighting combos, Ultimates, and how it all ties together. As in Mass Effect, combos are initiated with Primers and Detonators – the former primes a target while the latter detonates the effect, dealing more damage. Check it out below.
For example, Rook can use their Crystallize Rune to freeze several enemies, crowd-controlling and priming them. They can then command Lucanis to follow up with Eviscerate to detonate it and deal massive damage to the group. As for your Ultimate, the Champion can unleash Warden’s Fire, raining down fire projectiles followed by a magical meteor.
Every combat option helps in the more chaotic battlegrounds. You can pause time at any point with the Ability Wheel and command companions to take out more distant threats while you deal with nearby enemies. Your Specialization and playstyle facilitate different functions, like tanking damage, crowd-controlling foes, shredding armor, etc.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on October 31st for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks leading up to the launch.
