The new Deadpool movie will open in cinemas next week, and Marvel has released a brand-new kooky trailer. In addition to the mash-up of goofy jokes and snappy punchlines, it offers a glimpse of Lady Deadpool and Cowboy Deadpool, the alternate versions of The Merc with a Mouth.
It looks like Wade Wilson will enter the Marvel universe in the company of many other comic book characters. Note that the previous teaser featured Sabretooth, the famous arch-enemy of Wolverine.
Deadpool was originally part of the X-Men universe, the rights of which were held by 20th Century Fox. However, in 2019, The Walt Disney Company purchased the studio. The mutants were introduced to the world in both Ms. Marvel and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Deadpool thus became part of the MCU.
But what does this mean for the third film about his adventures, and when will Wade Wilson be back in cinemas? You can find out below.
Deadpool 3 official title

The tickets for Deadpool and Wolverine are rolling out now and here’s where you can buy them.
Deadpool 3 plot
Thanks to the first teaser, we know that the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the agency that controls timelines in the multiverse, will play an essential role in the new film. The organisation is well-known to fans of the Loki series, and all indications are that Deadpool will also make a closer acquaintance with the Authority.
The Merc with a Mouth will get a chance to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will surely use that invitation. In the teaser, Wade calls himself the Messiah and Marvel Jesus, and is fascinated by the idea of teaming up with the Avengers squad.
With Deadpool joining the MCU, we may see cameos from different superheroes. The most important will be, of course, Huge Jackman’s Wolverine.
Disney Studios
Although the film Logan (2017) concluded the adventures of the mutant, the concept of the multiverse allows filmmakers to bring back characters in alternate timelines. Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is likely to be another incarnation of the original hero. This seems to be confirmed by Ryan Reynolds himself, who told ET Canada the following:
And what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.
Thanks to the latest trailer, we know that Deadpool will need Wolverine’s help to deal with massive TVA-related issues. Wade will find Logan in a different dimension, where a mysterious disaster occurred that the clawed superhero apparently failed to stop.
Thanks to the trailers, we also know that the film will feature Sabretooth, a psychopathic mutant and Wolverine’s nemesis.
The new film about The Merc with a Mouth will also include alternate variants of Deadpool. The movie will feature Lady Deadpool, the female version of the superhero, as well as Cowboy Deadpool, known in the comics as Deadpool Kid. However, whether they will team up with Wade Wilson or be his enemies is unclear.
Deadpool 3 cast
Ryan Reynolds will return to the role of Deadpool, while Hugh Jackman will star as Wolverine. His appearance was announced by the actors themselves:
We could expect the following cast members to reprise their roles:
- Leslie Uggams – Blind Al
- Karan Soni – Dopinder
- Morena Baccarin – Vanessa
- Stefan Kapicic – Colossus
- Brianna Hildebrand – Negasonic Teenage Warhead
- Shioli Kutsuna – Yukio
- Rob Delaney – Peter
Zazie Beetz, who played the role of Domino, and Josh Brolin, aka Cable, won’t appear in the new film.
Emma Corrin, best known for her role in the Netflix series The Crown, is set to play Cassandra Nova, a mutant with telekinetic and telepathic powers and the villain. Matthew MacFadyen, who won an Emmy Award for his performance as Tom in HBO’s Succession, will also appear in the movie, as the TVA agent known as Paradox.
Interestingly, Deadpool 3 will feature Jennifer Garner, who will once again star as Elektra Natchios. The actress already played the superheroine in the poorly received 2003 film.
There are also been some rumours that Deadpool 3 will feature Halle Berry as Storm, Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Daniel Radcliffe is also heavily rumoured to appear as another variant of Wolverine.
For some time, there were rumours that Taylor Swift might star in the film, but Entertainment Weekly debunked them.
