Supermassive Games’ The Casting of Frank Stone is out later this year, and as with its previous works, it’s a narrative horror adventure. However, it’s based on Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight, offering some interesting implications for the latter’s Omniverse. The studios discuss the upcoming title in a new deep dive video – check it out below.
While Behaviour felt Supermassive was the perfect fit for a narrative-focused Dead by Daylight title, creative director Steve Goss discusses it as an “unashamed horror experience.” The studio has reportedly been thinking about the story for a long time, and it seemingly “fits the Omniverse idea that underpins a lot of the Dead by Daylight lore.”
Though it’s about four teens who venture into the infamous Murder Mill to shoot an amateur horror film in the 1980s, The Casting of Frank Stone begins earlier. In 1963, a police officer investigates the mill due to a serial killer running amuck. However, as game director Paul Martin reveals, it “goes in different directions” involving many sub-genres, including slasher films.
The Casting of Frank Stone is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out the first gameplay trailer here.
