Liverpool transfer news: Reds 'hold talks' over deal for Chelsea target amid clear exit stance

Liverpool have until Monday night to complete their transfer business as the January transfer window nears its conclusion

Liverpool do not have long to go before they are no longer able to go into the market for new signings as transfer deadline day fast approaches. The Reds have until Monday to wrap up their transfer business for the month, and as a result are being linked with several potential new signings.

Recent days, though, has seen intense speculation linking current Liverpool players with a move away before the deadline.

Andy Robertson has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur this month, while Curtis Jones has been linked with a move to Inter Milan on loan with an option to buy.

In terms of new signings, Liverpool are still being linked with strengthening their defence, with Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley, Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni all on the sidelines with injuries.

Jeremy Jacquet update

Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet before the end of the January transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool are joined by Chelsea in expressing an interest in Jacquet and are holding talks with Rennes ahead of Monday’s deadline.

However, despite Liverpool holding talks with the Ligue 1 club, even if an agreement is reached, the defender would not move to Anfield until the summer at the earliest. This is due to the French club being resolute in their stance that a winter exit is off the table.

Bayern Munich have also previously been linked with signing Jacquet, but the latest reports have suggested that a move to the Bundesliga giants is “unlikely” at this stage.

Wataru Endo stance

There has been an update on the future of Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo, who is reportedly attracting interest ahead of Monday’s deadline.

It has been reported by Voetbal Primeur that Ajax are interested in signing Endo, but will not find it easy to get a deal agreed.

In fact, the report goes on to state that Endo is considered “unattainable” during the current transfer window, with Ajax seemingly giving up in their pursuit of the midfielder.

Manuel Ugarte ( Manchester United ), Christian Norgaard ( Arsenal ) and Lucas Torreira (Galatasaray) have also been identified as potential midfield targets for Ajax, but none are looking likely to leave their current employers before the deadline.
