Fintech Payoneer acquires Dublin start-up Boundless

The acquisition is expected to help Payoneer access and manage its talent spread globally.

US fintech Payoneer has acquired Dublin-based start-up and employee record-keeping platform Boundless. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Boundless enables businesses to handle cross-border payroll, taxes, benefits and compliance. The start-up aims to simplify complexities surrounding international employment, making it easier for companies to hire and support talent globally.

The acquisition is expected to help Payoneer access and manage its talent spread globally, especially as limited staff and varying local regulations make payroll compliance difficult, the company said.

“The global talent landscape is shifting dramatically,” said John Caplan, Payoneer’s CEO. “From new visa policies to evolving labour regulations, companies everywhere are rethinking how they hire and manage global teams.

“With Boundless joining the Payoneer Workforce Management team, we are even better positioned to help businesses access and manage talent anywhere in the world easily, compliantly and confidently.”

The deal comes just after Payoneer posted a Q3 revenue of more than $270m, up 47pc year on year.

“Joining Payoneer allows us to bring our European expertise to a truly global platform, helping more companies navigate the complexities of international hiring and compliance,” said Dee Coakley, co-founder and CEO of Boundless. Coakley co-founded the start-up in 2019 with Emily Castles and Eamon Leonard.

“Together, we will enable more businesses to expand internationally, pay and manage talent across borders more efficiently,” she added. In 2021, Boundless raised €2.5m in a seed funding round led by Ada Ventures and Fyrfly.

This latest acquisition adds another notch on Payoneer’s belt, which had acquired Skuad, now rebranded to Payoneer Workforce Management, back in 2024.

Last year, Irish-founded HR tech start-up Dosen raised $2.3m to address what it referred to as the employee “quiet quitting” epidemic. The start-up aims to address employees that are “psychologically detached” from their jobs using an AI platform.
